- A Journey into the Nanoworld
The Centre for Nanotechnology & Advanced Biomaterials (CeNTAB) was started in 2005 and dedicated to the nation by His Excellency Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, then President of India. SASTRA has proactively established this Centre with a view to use Nanotechnology to develop meaningful solutions that would upgrade the quality of life and society. While Nanotechnology has wide ranging applications, CeNTAB has carefully chosen to work on two main areas - Health Care and Electronics. CeNTAB is an inter-disciplinary research centre drawing combined research expertise from Schools of Chemical & Biotechnology, Electrical & Electronics and Mechanical Engineering.
- Anusandhan Kendra
Anusandhan Kendra is a part of SASTRA’s interdisciplinary research initiative integrating Engineering, Life Sciences, Physics & Chemistry. Constructed over an area of 2,00,000 Sq.ft. at a cost of Rs. 42 Crores, this facility houses 76 research labs with state-of- the art facilities like Microscopy Suite(FE-TEM,FE-SEM,AFM,Confocal,etc…), Spectroscopy Suite(XPS, ICPMS,LCMS/MS,etc…) besides other Major equipment and over 20 research labs with a focus on Materials, Sensors, Fluidics etc. at the Nanoscale besides other advanced facilities. In addition, stand-alone research is also actively pursued in the individual academic schools.
